Salem Fire Stations #5, 7, 10 and 11

Project Details

These 10,500 SF stations are based on a single prototype design adapted to the specific needs of each site. Design documents for each were developed concurrently. The stations were bid together, with the selection of a single contractor and superintendent for all four sites. Construction for each site was staggered by one month to allow crews to transition from station to station. This created sufficient savings for the City to accept the bid alternate for a fourth bay for each station.

Each facility has four apparatus bays, offices, display museum, auxiliary equipment storage, turn-out laundry, and shop areas in addition to living quarters, which include dorms, kitchen, and workout area. The buildings have tap-out systems, which control the lighting, bay doors, and kitchen equipment. The facilities have 100% backup power provided by on-site diesel generators.
