Sustainability
Group Mackenzie’s approach to design is holistic, incorporating sustainable strategies to enhance the overall design aesthetic and functionality of buildings and sites across all disciplines. Our designers and engineers collaborate on integrated concepts that result in projects that are visually pleasing, have lower operating costs, are resource efficient, and support healthy, quality environments for building occupants.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the design of our Portland headquarters, RiverEast Center, LEED Gold certified. Structural engineers, architects, civil engineers, and interior designers worked together to provide ways to reduce energy by 51 percent and recycle 95 percent of the existing building’s construction waste to create a healthy, productive work environment. What’s more, the cost of green design features will be recovered in less than three years.
Group Mackenzie maintains an office-wide sustainable management plan. As part of our effort to improve the environment and provide the best overall value to our clients, it is our goal to have 90 percent of our staff LEED accredited. Supporting this effort is our in-house sustainable design committee, which provides resources, coordinates seminars, and offers educational opportunities on sustainability to staff.
Our multidisciplinary team has extensive experience in designing durable, cost effective, and innovative designs. Our notable sustainable design expertise includes:
